Seda Viking
Reviews - Kayaks

The VIKING is a sea kayak with a real pedigree. It has been manufactured continuously since 1980 with upgrades and improvements as needed to keep it state of the art. There are thousands of satisfied paddlers using these boats on waters throughout the world. SEDA continuously receives statements over the phone or through the mail telling them how much paddlers still enjoy their VIKING. The modifications SEDA has made on this boat have been derived from suggestions made by the many expeditionary paddlers who have used the VIKING on long distance trips or in severe conditions.

In testimony to it's capabilities the VIKING has been used on many expeditions including paddling down the Amazon; Glacier Bay, Alaska to Seattle; San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, Baja, California; 6,500 miles from Rio de Janeiro via the coast line of South, Central and North America to Mystic Connecticut; 4,500 miles along the coast of South America from Patagonia to Columbia; crossing the U. S. on inland waterways from west to east (too name a few.)

VIKING has a shallow V-bottom all through the hull and increased sharpness of the stern for better tracking. VIKING has a large comfortable cockpit and tremendous buoyancy, which makes this kayak the ideal choice for really large people. Its gear carrying capacity lends itself well to extended expeditions.

The bow of the VIKING retains a traditional upswept appearance without extended overhangs giving the VIKING a long waterline for its 16.5’ length. The fish-form hull with its 25" beam and high deck makes VIKING the most stable of our sea kayak singles. It is an excellent boat for taking pictures, fishing or general paddling. The stability of the VIKING makes it the excellent entry-level touring kayak as well as a capable workhorse for extended expeditionary use.

Standard features in all construction types include a molded seat with comfortable, adjustable backrest, and adjustable foot rests; bow and stern bulkhead and elliptical bow and stern hatches with neoprene and overlaying fiberglass covers. Other welcome items are the bow and deck lashing kits with countersunk eye-straps and toggle portage carrying handles. An optional rudder system is also available for those planning to do rough water paddling. All three constructions have triple inside and single outside fiberglass seams.
