Recognizing the publics’ interest and the advantages of sit-on-top kayaks SEDA took a somewhat different approach. SEDA believed that paddlers who feel confined or insecure in traditional touring kayak cockpits as well as those that may venture out in exposed coastal areas, divers, fishermen and others, would appreciate the benefits of a sit-on-top combined with the superior efficiency of composite construction in a touring hull.

The REVENGE combines the hull of a SEDA VIKING with a sit-on-top cockpit. The hull of the venerable VIKING has proven itself on the most grueling of expeditions. The VIKING has also won numerous long-distance endurance races. Most sit-on-top kayaks that are available today are either plastic craft which are of moderate (or lower) performance or ultra-high-performance surf-skis (a type of racing craft that is beyond the capacity of most paddlers to comfortably handle). The REVENGE was created to fill this gap.

The REVENGE is a performance-oriented, touring kayak that retains the excellent stability and load carrying characteristics that the VIKING hull is noted for. The open cockpit is purposely snug. Even when flooded by a large wave, very little water can remain in the cockpit to adversely affect the handling characteristics of this kayak.

Another feature of the REVENGE is an elevated deck. The elevated deck design helps to keep the paddler dry by preventing waves from washing over the sides and into the cockpit.

The seat in the REVENGE is elevated above the bottom of the hull and all inner surfaces drain into a center sump. This sump can be opened to drain while you paddle. Other "sit-on-top" kayaks have as many as six "scupper" drain holes which reduce their performance and efficiency. The REVENGE has a single, streamlined underside drain opening. The cockpit design and drain system of the REVENGE results in a seat that stays surprisingly dry. SEDA recommends that you leave the drain plug in most of the time, and use a sponge to remove any water that might accumulate inside from paddle drips and splash. You should leave the drain open however, when you contemplate paddling through surf or encounter bad weather.

REVENGE is equipped with an internal bulkhead, side carry handles, adjustable foot pads and backrest for better comfort and control of this efficient kayak. If you want to carry gear or diving equipment, the REVENGE features a 24 x 12" covered oval aft hatch to allow easy gear storage. You can easily load scuba tanks through the large aft hatch opening. The REVENGE also has a 10" diameter forward hatch to allow access the front storage compartment. For those who may venture out in wind and waves, knee straps and/or an optional rudder can be mounted on the REVENGE.
